What is an enduro race?

If you don’t follow the current trends in mountain bike racing, enduro racing might be a bit of a mystery to you.

It’s the latest highly popular racing trend in the MTB scene where the downhill sections of trail are timed, and the uphill sections are mandatory (ie: not on a chairlift or shuttle vehicle) but are not timed. The race will include 3-4 stages of timed downhill fun, fastest combined time wins.

Stay tuned to the Bike Cochrane social media pages and we will provide a sneak peak of what the event will entail.

Parents are welcome to ride with their young racers and can follow behind during the timed stages. For racers under 7 years old towwhee type devices are permitted.

Racer tech guide will be released closer to race time.

*All racers and riding parents must be Bike Cochrane members. Special discounted youth membership available.

Aid stations will be on course with some snacks and water refills to keep racers fuelled, but please remember to pack some of your own as well

In the event of extreme weather or acts of god and the race needs to be postponed, your fee will go towards the new date chosen. If we are able to rescheduled the race, and your schedule has a conflict, your race fee will go towards the 2025 Youth Enduro. If we are unable to reschule the race, your race fees will go towards the 2025 Angry Hawk Youth Enduro. No refunds will be issued due to personal scheduling conflict for the 2024 race.

Ghost of the Gravel Race

This is not a Bike Cochrane related event, but it’s a great event in our area!

This year Ghost of the Gravel will be hosting the 2024 Gravel National Championship

Ghost of the Gravel was born from a group of friends that loved bikes. We rode as far and frequently as possible on any bike. Winter meant gravel, and the gravel NW of Calgary was the best there was... and so the Water Valley 220 was born. An annual Calgary-to-Calgary spring tradition of rain, sleet or snow (sometimes all 3).One day Ghost of the Gravel was born out of a desire (need?) to make the hardest bike race we could on the coolest roads we knew - those roads just happened to be unpaved. We shortened it to only the best roads, and made sure everyone was fed and watered afterward to reward the hard day - but the spirit of pushing yourself on seldom-travelled roads remains.10 years later, we've had thousands of starters, winners from 3 different countries, and a ton of fun showing people the roads and character of Western Alberta.

For more information please visit their website: https://deadgoat.ca/ghostofthegravel/
