This is the fourth annual REC camp, in which 20+ local women ages 18 up will connect to their community, have fun, and build skills while riding bikes on our local Cochrane trails. Four groups of beginner to intermediate+ riders will be taught by PMBIA-certified coaches, and get some amazing swag to boot.

Join us for our fourth annual GLO group ride, bring the whole family! We will provide glow sticks for all pre-registered riders to wear and attach to their bikes. Let’s light up the pathway as we ride from Riverfront Park to SLSFC via the river pathway and back, where we’ll have a bonfire in Riverfront Park with post ride snacks and hot chocolate. All Bike Cochrane members welcome. This is a casual event, ride at your own pace. All riders are encouraged to have a bike lights as the sun will have set by the time we get going.

5:30 - Glowsticks available to start decorating your bike
6:15 - We start riding as a group! Sunset is at 6:28 PM

BIKE COCHRANE BIKE SWAP RULES - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

  1. Registration Fee: sellers will pay $15 to register up to 3 bikes. If you are selling more than 3 bikes, you will pay another $15. Non-refundable. Day of registration is $30 – CASH ONLY.

  2. Bike Cochrane, affiliated sponsors & volunteers are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items.

  3. Equipment consigned should be in good working order and clean, no broken or damaged items please. Bike Cochrane reserves the right to not accept items that appear damaged.

  4. Sellers determine the sale price of their bike(s).

  5. Prices for items cannot be changed during the swap without approval of the seller, if present.

  6. Sales can be completed by cash, or e-transfer directly to the seller.

  7. If the buyer wishes to use a credit card through Bike Cochrane’s Square system, an additional 2.5% of bike cost will be charged at the buyer's expense. Bike Cochrane will not profit from the bike sale. Bike Cochrane will then send an e-transfer to the seller for the amount of the bike sale within a week.

  8. Items cannot be placed on hold during the swap. 

  9. All sales are ‘as is’.

  10. All sales are final. No refunds will be given.

  11. All unsold items must be picked up at the end of the swap between 2PM and 230PM. Unless notified, you must come in person to find out if your bike sold.

  12. REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 9PM WEDNESDAY APRIL 22.

Enduro race and racetrack specifically designed for the next generation of youth mountain bikers, in our own backyard on our newly created highly popular Buffalo Bean trail network at the Cochrane Agriculture society.



Angry Hawk Youth Enduro race
Ages 5-17 (minimum 20” wheels)
Cost: $50.00 + Membership (All racers must be Bike Cochrane Members)

Dual Slalom Race
All Ages (on pedals) A great chance for adults to join in on the fun day!
Cost: $40.00 + Membership (All racers must be Bike Cochrane Members)

If you are not currently a Bike Cochrane members, add on a $30 youth membership or $40 adult membership. Members will have full access to all Bike Cochrane events and discounts in 2025.

We love young bike racers so there will be strider and mini pedaller races on site keep tuned in for details as we get closer to race day



Dual Slalom

Parallel tracks, one named Peanut Butter, one named Jelly.... Racers will be paired up and race head to head. One run down each track and the best time wins.

Double elimination, so you get another shot even if you lose your first round.

Practice:
The track will be open for practice immediately following the completion of the Youth Enduro race, estimated around 12:00pm.

All racers must get at least 1 practice run down each track! We recommend several more than that though.

Qualifying: 2:00pm - 3:00pm
We will have timing set up near the end of practice, and will take your best time to use as your qualifying time.

Seeding (who you will race against first)  will take place based on qualifying time.

Racing: 3:00pm - whenever everyone but the winners have been eliminated

What is an enduro race?

If you don’t follow the current trends in mountain bike racing, enduro racing might be a bit of a mystery to you.

It’s the latest highly popular racing trend in the MTB scene where the downhill sections of trail are timed, and the uphill sections are mandatory (ie: not on a chairlift or shuttle vehicle) but are not timed. The race will include 5 stages of timed downhill fun, fastest combined time wins. 

Parents are welcome to ride with their young racers and can follow behind during the timed stages. For racers under 7 years old towwhee type devices are permitted.

Racer tech guide will be released closer to race time. 

*All racers and riding parents must be Bike Cochrane members. Special discounted youth membership available.

Food:

Aid stations will be on course with some snacks and water refills to keep racers fuelled, but please remember to pack some of your own as well 

Food trucks will be on site for post race re-fuelling. La Casita Coffee, Little Valley Bagel Co., Wanna Waffle and Fired Pizza 600.




Refunds: Fee’s are non-refundable and non-transferable. This race supports Cycling Advocacy in Cochrane Alberta, all fees are used for running this race, and towards trail building on the Buffalo Bean trail system. Bike Cochrane’s trail crew operates entirely on volunteers to build, maintain, remediate, and prune/clean trails in Cochrane. Trail crew tasks may include bench cutting, trimming out lines for new trails, excavator work, raking and trimming trails, preparing for races. Volunteers will be trained on how to use the tools and equipment safely and will be provided instructions on site. Volunteers are required to: * Wear closed-toe footwear and weather-appropriate clothing * Use only tools you have been shown how to use * Stay aware of terrain, weather, and other trail users * Take breaks and stay hydrated * Report injuries, near-misses, or concerns immediately. Have Fun building and maintaining our wonderful trail network in Cochrane!

Youth MTB 5 Week Camp - Thursday Intermediate Girls Session

sponsored by Sun ridge Pharmacy

Back for another year, through funding from Every Kid Can Play Grant, Bike Cochrane is offering a 5-week girls-only mountain bike camp at the Buffalo Bean Trails. We will have 6 spots for beginner girls, and 6 intermediate girls who are 12-15 years old looking to get comfortable on a mountain bike.

When: Tuesday (beginner) and Thursday (intermediate) Evenings - May 4th to June 4th, 2026
Time: 6pm - 8pm
Where: The Buffalo Bean Trail (Cochrane Ag Society)
Who: This program is for girls only, 12-15 years old looking to learn mountain biking in a fun and welcoming environment with Coach Richelle (Thursday) and Coach Mel (Tuesday).
Cost: $90.00 per person for a 5-week session, 10 hours of instruction, weather dependant.

Skill or experience requirements:

• Riders should have exposure to riding on dirt trails, and a proper mountain bike with working gear shifters and brakes.

• We’ll practice riding up and down hills on off-road terrain, so riders should be able to at least reach their brake levers and have some idea how they work.

Back for another year, through funding from Every Kid Can Play Grant, Bike Cochrane is offering a 5-week girls-only mountain bike camp at the Buffalo Bean Trails. We will have 6 spots for beginner girls, and 6 intermediate girls who are 12-15 years old looking to get comfortable on a mountain bike.

When: Tuesday (beginner) and Thursday (intermediate) Evenings - May 4th to June 4th, 2026
Time: 6pm - 8pm
Where: The Buffalo Bean Trail (Cochrane Ag Society)
Who: This program is for girls only, 12-15 years old looking to learn mountain biking in a fun and welcoming environment with Coach Richelle (Thursday) and Coach Mel (Tuesday).
Cost: $90.00 per person for a 5-week session, 10 hours of instruction, weather dependant.

Skill or experience requirements:

• Riders should have exposure to riding on dirt trails, and a proper mountain bike with working gear shifters and brakes.

• We’ll practice riding up and down hills on off-road terrain, so riders should be able to at least reach their brake levers and have some idea how they work.
